The River Nile
90% of Egypt is desert and 10% is the River Nile.
The Nile is and always has been very important for people living off the land.
Without the River Nile it is very unlikely the Anicent Egptians would have existed.
From July to September the Nile swells (floods) from lots of rain. This helps lots of crops grow in the soil.
The Nile flows from the south to the north.
Ancient Egyptians would use boats made from papyrus paper to travel up and down the river.
The Nile is full of animals, most famously, the Nile Crocodile.
The River Nile is over 4,000 miles long.
