THE TONE OF AN INFORMAL LETTER IS FRIENDLY AND HAS A PERSONAL TOUCH. THESE LETTERS ARE ALSO CALLED SOCIAL LETTERS. AN INFORMAL LETTER IS WRITTEN TO YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY. YOU CAN USE CONTRACTIONS LIKE YOU'RE, SHE'S OR HE'S.

 LETTERS START WITH A SALUTATION, SUCH AS DEAR________. 

AN INFORMAL LETTER SHOULD END ON AN AFFECTIONATE NOTE SUCH AS YOURS LOVINGLY, YOURS TRULY OR YOURS AFFECTIONATELY.

        Format of an informal letter

Tips of writing an informal letter

• Make sure you double check for grammatical accuracy and spellings. They carry marks.
  
• Leave adequate number of lines between paragraphs to make it look neat.
  
• Underlining the main points is very important. But it is advised to do it after finishing your letter. Use a pencil and scale for underlining.
  
• Presentation is very important.
  
• Read a lot of letters to get an idea.
