Working towards a final assignment.....

Over the next three weeks we are going to work in groups on a project about a holiday to an English speaking country. Each week you will get a new writing assignment as well as questions to research about your chosen country.  At the end of the lesson series ( before lesson 4)  you will need to hand in your final work, including the answers to some of the research questions in a vlog about the country your group chose.

    Research the city/area and answer these questions
- What type of holiday are you going on? (backpacking, city break etc.?)
- What time of year is best to go?

Based on the above, find a hotel/youth hostel or other accommodation and write an email and include the information in the next slide in your email.

Write a formal email as a group to book accommodation 
- Email is formal and includes all the parts of an email (see example in SB p.88 , ex.4)
- Dates of stay
- Type of accommodation and number of rooms
- Include at least one special requirement (decide as a group what this is)
- Ask the hotel to confirm pricing and availability?
- Ask the hotel one question about the hotel facilities?
- Ask the hotel about an airport transfer or transport options to the hotel?
- Ask the hotel about what there is to do when you are there?

Research questions (for vlog) as homework
As a group decide who will research and answer each of these research questions:
How would you describe the landscape?
Which part of your chosen country do most people live in?
Is it safe to visit your chosen country?
Where is the capital of your chosen country? How would you describe the capital city or any other main cities?  Is it on a river, on the coast in the center of the country?
What are the most popular tourist destinations in your chosen country? What makes them popular?
 How easy is it to travel around your country?
What is the most popular animal in your country?
Is there much interesting architecture in your country?

Which country and city did your group choose? Would you really want to go there? Explain why?

Hand in your email to reserve accommodation in Google Classroom before Friday (all students)
Put all the research questions and answers per country in a shared document.
Remember to save it as a group, make sure that you all have access to the powerpoint as one of your group members may be absent next lesson!
