Present Continuous

Als je in het Engels vertelt dat je iets aan het doen bent, dan gebruik je

am, are of is + (verb)ing.

Je gebruikt dus een vorm van het werkwoord to be in de tegenwoordige tijd. Woorden waar je op kunt letten zijn bijvoorbeeld: now, right now, at the moment

Past Continuous

Als je vertelt dat je in het verleden iets aan het doen was, gebruik je

was of were + (verb)ing.

  

Woorden waar je op kunt letten zijn bijvoorbeeld: when I was younger, yesterday, last week, last night, last year, the other day of een zinsdeel dat al in de verleden tijd staat
