Can you remember why we do the 1st cleanse?

Why do we do a first cleanse

The purpose of the 1st cleanse is to remove make-up, dirt, and natural oils from the skin.

This allows us to then carry out a skin analysis to identify the clients skin type. We cannot do this without the 1st cleanse.

What product do we use to do the first cleanse?

First cleanse is completed with a sensitive or calming cleanser

As we do not know the clients skin type, a sensitive or calming product will be suitable for all skin types.

Please set up your work area

Face mapping sheet

When carrying out your skin analysis, you will use a face mapping sheet to record the information you find out.

As well as finding out the clients skin type, you also need to look for any of the following:

  • breakouts

  • broken capillaries

  • comedones (black heads)

  • sensitivity

  • Fine lines

Breakouts

These can be papules or pustules

Papules:

  • Small, raised bumps on the skin, typically red or pink in colour.

  • Do not contain pus.

  • Caused by inflammation or clogged pores

Pustules:

  • Have a white or yellowish centre filled with pus.

  • Typically larger than papules and can be more painful

  • Can occur alongside papules during outbreaks

Broken capillaries

Broken capillaries are dilated blood vessels on the surface of the skin.

These can be caused by sun exposure, genetics or skin injury

Comedones

Comedones, more commonly known as blackheads, are caused when pores become blocked with sebum (natural oil) and dead skin cells.

Air causes the blocked pore to oxidise, giving them a black colour.

Sensitivity

Sensitive skin can be caused by a number of things including:

  • Irritation to products

  • Weather

  • Skin conditions

  • Genetic

Fine lines

Fine lines can be caused by aging.

They can also be caused by dehydration

Second cleanse

After you have completed your skin analysis, and selected the product range you are going to use, you then go on to do your second cleanse.

This cleanse lasts around 10 minutes, and it is designed to deeply clean the skin, whereas the 1st cleanse it to remove surface dirt.

Same massage routine followed.

You must remember to dampen your hands through the second cleanse to ensure they glide over the skin.
