What prepositions (voorzetsels) do you already know?

En= In

🇳🇱 = In

My book is in my bag.

Betekenen dus allebei "op"

Maar... Wat is dan het verschil tussen:

- I am at school?

- I am on school?

over / above

• om te zeggen dat iets boven of hoger dan iets of iemand anders is. 
• Je gebruikt alleen 'over' als iets bedekt is of als er beweging is van een bepaald punt naar iets anders

The eagle was flying over/above the clouds

She wore her coat over her dress.

The dog jumped over the fence.

between / among

• bij tweetallen
• among: alleen bij groepen groter dan twee

Lex sat between Helen and Sara.

Mom parked the car between two big lorries.

Jill lived among gorillas for three years.

He was the only boy among a group of girls.

Between = tussen 2 dingen/menen

BETWEEN = tussen 2 mensen/ dingen.

Among = bij groepen groter dan 2

Prepositions of place

under / below

• under: bij een plek direct onder iets of als er iets bedekt is
• below: als je het hebt over iets wat op een lager niveau is maar er niet 'direct onder' is.

Kirsten hid the key under a rock.

You can still see the graffiti  under the paint.

The sun disappeared below the horizon.

The climbers stopped below the Mountain top.

The milk is IN the glass.

The milk is poured INTO the glass.
