What do you already know about children's mental health?

Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson you will understand why we celebrate Children's Mental Health Week, know this year's theme, recognise different types of mental health, and learn ways to inspire and support wellbeing.

What is Children's Mental Health Week?

Children's Mental Health Week is an annual event to raise awareness about the importance of mental health among young people. It helps us recognise challenges, support each other, and understand emotional wellbeing.

2026 Theme: Connect to Thrive

This year's theme is 'Connect to Thrive.' It reminds us that making strong positive connections with friends, family, and our community helps our minds grow healthier and happier.

Types of Mental Health Challenges

Behavioural & Cognitive

Emotional & Social

ADHD, OCD, learning difficulties. Every mind is unique and may need different kinds of support.

Anxiety, depression, loneliness, social difficulties. These can make it hard to join in, learn, or feel confident.

Ways to Inspire Mental Health

1. Talk to someone you trust 2. Try relaxation or creative activities 3. Be active and get outdoors 4. Support others and be kind 5. Learn about emotions and how to handle them

Why Do We Celebrate?

We celebrate to show that mental health matters for everyone, to break stereotypes and stigma, and to encourage everyone to seek help when needed. Together, we can build a kind, supportive environment.
