1. Vóór het hoofdwerkwoord (I always go to school)
2. Achter een vorm van to be  (I am never late)

a = woord erna eindigt op een medeklinkerklank
vb. a chair, a book, a uniform

an = woord erna eindigt op klinkerklank
vb. an apple, an uncle
