In today's session we will cover:
- skin types and how to recognise them.
- The functions of the skin.
- The labelling of the skin and it's structures.

Sensation
- The nerve endings in our body allow us to feel sensations such as: Pain, Heat, touch, cold and pressure.
Heat regulation
- How our body controls it's temperature. Think about goose bumps, shivering and sweat.
Absorption
- Our skin can absorb some creams and also UV rays.
Protection
- Skin can protect our organs, it can protect us from UV rays and protects us from bacteria with it's waterproof layer.
Excretion
- Some waste products are excreted from the body through the skin sweating.
Secretion
- Sebum is the naturally produced oil that the skin secretes.
