who en which zijn betrekkelijke voornaamwoorden. Je gebruikt ze om in een bijzin een persoon of een ding te betrekken.

  • Who -> personen
  • It was madison who was nice to me.
  • Which -> dingen
  • She send me a reply, which simply said 'OK'
  • Wat is de bijzin? En wat de hoofdzin?

In een zin mag je who en which vervangen door that als er geen komma staat voor de bijzin.

  • The policeman that/who helped me is called Mr. Singh.
  • Met deze zin bedoel je niet zomaar een agent, maar diegene die hielp
  • Here are some songs that/which my mother taught me.
  • Met deze zin bedoel je niet zomaar wat liedjes, maar heel speciale liedjes
