Past Simple
  • Iets gebeurd in het verleden of een stelling in het verleden
  • Reg. ww  =>-ed (Walk, walked)
  • Onreg. ww => 2nd row irregular verbs (fall, fell, fallen)
  • Werkwoorden eindigend op -y, krijgt -ied
  • Signaalwoorden: LADY => Last, Ago, Datum (in het verleden) Yesterday (in jaartal of verwijzing; once, the other week/day etc.

To Be is het ennige werkwoord dat in de past simple twee vormen heeft i.p.v. één; was en were.
En het enige werkwoord dat in vragen en ontkenning 
GEEN did/didn't krijgt, maar wasn't en weren't

was > I, he, she, it.
were > you, we, you, they.
Het 2e ww is het hele werkwoord + ing

text > texting.

Je gebruikt beide tijden ook samen in één zin om aan te geven dat iets plotseling gebeurde toen iets anders al aan de gang was in het verleden.
