• Holiday periods: at Christmas • Clock times: at 12:15 • Other phrases: at night, at the weekend Note: at night BUT on Friday night

• Shows how long: for 3 weeks, for a day • Duration (minutes, hours, days, etc.) Example: The film lasts for 2 hours.

• Period/event: during the week

• Specific moment in a period: during the meeting Example: He studied hard during the semester.
