Present simple

I eat

we use present simple;

• things we do regularly, often, never etc.....

I always eat an apple after dinner.

He often eats French fries.

• facts, things which are generally true...

The Earth goes around the sun.

• verbs which describe what we like, feel, think...
  

believe, (dis)like, like, love, prefer, understand, want, etc....

Present continuous

I am eating, she is eating,we are eating

We use the present continuous:

•  things that are happing NOW
•  future plans and arrangements that we are sure  

   about

We are watching tv now/at the moment.

I am meeting some friends after school.
