Slide 18 - Open question

This item has no instructions

Secondary Storage
We need to be able to store data, files and programs while the computer is switched off.
  • Only secondary storage can do this
  • It is Non Volatile (keeps data while switched off)

Slide 19 - Slide

Talk about pros and cons like

Magnetic best in stationary devices, reliable and cheapest for high storage solutions - not very portable

Optical is portable, cheap and good for multimedia and small backups.  Can be scratched and damages easily.  Slowest access speeds

Solid state - while the most expensive, offers highest read/write speeds and is still large in capacity, portable and reliable.
Why do Computers use secondary storage?
