Question of the day?
When do we use much and when do we use many?

at the end of this lesson you need to answer this.

Slide 10 - Slide

  • We use quantifiers to give us extra information about how much

  • For today, we are going to look at when do we use which quantifier.
  • Terms that we are going to talk about: countable and uncountable nouns
Quantifiers, why do we use it?

Slide 11 - Slide

Countable
Uncountable

(A) few, we use it for countable nouns!
Look at the examples:

1. Look miss Watts bought a few t-shirts yesterday.

Plural
How do we make something plural in English?

example: Crisp is singular...
How do we say this? We eat as many ........ as we like.

Slide 17 - Slide

Plural (1)
You know how to make a noun plural by adding -s or -es.
Not all nouns have the same plural form.

Nouns that end with a consonant + o get -es.
Example:
Hero --> Heroes
Echo --> Echoes

Slide 18 - Slide

Plural (2)

2)
Nouns that end with s, x, z or ch get -es.

bus – buses
box – boxes
match – matches

dwarf – dwarves
4) Nouns that end with -Y
