What is Weather?
Weather is what happens in the sky each day. It includes sunshine, rain, clouds, wind, and temperature.
Types of Weather
Common weather types are sunny, rainy, cloudy, and snowy. Some days might be windy or foggy too.

Air moves and forms clouds, bringing different weather.
The sun heats up the air and land, causing changes in weather.

Stratus clouds look like blankets. Nimbus clouds bring rain.
What is Precipitation?
Precipitation is water that falls from clouds. It can be rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
How Does Rain Form?
Rain forms when water drops in clouds grow large and heavy. They fall to the ground as rain.
How Does Snow Form?
When it is cold, water vapour freezes into tiny ice crystals. They stick together and fall as snowflakes.
What Causes Cold Weather?
Cold weather happens when less sunlight reaches Earth, like in winter, or when cold air moves in.

Natural disasters are sudden events caused by nature. They include earthquakes, hurricanes, heatwaves, tsunamis, volcanoes, and extreme cold.

Very strong winds, high heat, or very cold weather can also cause problems.
