How does part 1 of the exam work?
We ask you questions.

You…
1. reply to the examiner.
You give short answers but avoid ‘yes’ and ‘no’ answers.

Slide 4 - Slide

Common mistakes part 1
Giving too short answers.

Solution: the answer can never be shorter than the question. Don’t give too much detail. Answer in a simple way and add one extra sentence.
e.g. What do you usually do in the weekend?

Not having prepared keywords.
Solution: study the most common words that you know you may get questions about, e.g. hobbies, future studies, family, weekends, etc.

Get to work
In a bit we're going to practice with speaking part 1.

You will practice with multiple questions per theme. For each theme you'll receive 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes, you'll get 30 seconds to find a new speaking partner to discuss the next theme with.

In the meantime you will write down things on a paper that you heard that went well! :)
