Conjunctions (voegwoord)
To make your writing more natural, use these five words which connect ideas.
And: uitbreiding, "en"
     - We went to the beach and loved it cause it was so sunny!
But: tegenstelling "maar".
      - We went to the beach, but the water was too cold for swimming
Or: tegenstelling "of".
      - Do you like pasta or pizza?
Because: reden "omdat"
     - We went to the beach because it was a sunny day
So: gevolg "dus"
     - It was a sunny day so we went to the beach.

Capital letters
The first letter of:
- a sentence
- people's names > Ivan
- titles (books, films, people, poems) > The Catcher in the Rye
- places > New York City
- countries, nationalities and languages > Haiti, a team of Haitians, Haitian cuisine
- institutions > Bank of China
- historical eras > European Renaissance
- days, months, holidays > Sunday, April, Christmas
- jobs > only when these titles are used as part of a proper name 
>The fourteenth prime minister of Australia was Prime Minister John Curtin.
