Modals
A modal verb is a type of verb that is used to indicate modality- that is; likelihood, ability, permission, request, capacity, suggestions, order, obligation or advice.

Modal verbs in English: can, could, may, might, shall, should,
will, would and must.

Slide 3 - Slide

It can be tricky to know when to use MUST and when to use HAVE TO.

Both terms have a similar meaning: to express a need or obligation.
For example, you can say: “I need to go to the bathroom,”
“I must go to the bathroom” or “I have to go to the bathroom.”

In this case, each sentence means the same thing.

However, must and have to also have their own meanings.
Must is a modal verb, whereas have to is an auxiliary verb.

Watch the video to learn when to use MUST and HAVE TO.
