Why Are Times Tables Important?

Times tables help us solve multiplication quickly. They make maths easier when doing more tricky problems!

What Is a Times Table?

A times table shows the results of multiplying numbers together. For example: 4 × 5 = 20.

The 2 Times Table Trick

Doubling is the trick! To multiply by 2, just add the number to itself.

Multiplying by 5

Endings pattern: all answers end in 0 or 5. Each time, just add 5 more!

The 9 Times Table Trick

Count up in the tens column and down in the ones: 09, 18, 27, 36, 45... Or use your fingers to find the answer!

Easy Times: 0 and 1 Table

Any number times 0 is 0. Any number times 1 is itself!

The 4 Times Table – Double Twice

First double the number, then double again! 4 × 6: double 6 is 12, double 12 is 24.

The 10 Times Table is a Breeze

Just add a zero to the number! 10 × 4 = 40

Patterns in the 3 Times Table

The answers go up by 3s each time: 3, 6, 9, 12... Try skip counting to remember!

Sixes, Sevens, and Eights

Learn some tricks: 6 × 6 = 36, 7 × 8 = 56 (remember: 5, 6, 7, 8!)
