  • Learning and applying the future tense and the conditional. 
  • Actively applying the future tense, and recognising the conditional + 2 using set structures like 'je voudrais' and 'j'aimerais'
  • Written communication skills : develop an idea and expressing it with the appropriate vocabulary
  • Make plans for the future and find arguments as to why you want certain things, why do you think this or that is important?
  • Understanding other perspectives (either from classmates or stimuli given) and considering whether or not you want to use it for your personal plans

The students think about their future plans in this unit, and consider different aspects that play a role. They will be thinking about job satisfaction and what they value more: the money, or happiness. This results in the ultimate question what are the means to attain a happy life in the future, what do I want? Finding their balance is important there and hopefully they will realise this when they consider what they want. The teacher should make them aware of it too.

Become more aware of their own strengths and areas for growth:

The students are thinking about their future, which departs from the fact that they have some guarantees about material aspects in life. Not everyone has that advantage though. Challenge the students to think about people do not have this luxury (e.g. homeless, refugees, disabled people) and how they could help. Is hands-on action needed? Would they raise awareness? And can we do something in the local community ?
