Classroom expectations
No entering the classroom without a tutor
Arrive in correct uniform and dress code
No food or drink in the classroom - Only water in a clear bottle.
Set up your work area, taking out your kit.
Ensure you have your logbook and learner review booklet out - with a pen and any note books.
Fully participate in your session
NO use of mobile phones - unless instructed by your tutor.
Be respectful to others and the working environment
Ask questions if you are unsure.

Health & Safety
- Ensure that your work area is clean and tidy
- The client is wearing a gown & towel.
- Ensure all electrical equipment is PAT tested - check the sticker on the wire
- Report any equipment to staff or technician that you think is faulty.
- Check the hairdryer for a guard on the back
- Check the temperature of the water on a small section of the head.
- Any shampoo or product that gets in the eyes must be rinsed with eye wash, report it to a member of staff.
- Check for allergies

Your work area should be set up with all tools, equipment and styling products.
Clients should have the correct PPE on.
You MUST keep your work area tidy throughout the service.

Sectioning of the hair
Before sectioning we recommend 'rough' drying the hair first, this is a quick blast to remove excess water. The hair should be roughly 40-50% dry.
When we carry out most hairdressing services we section the hair into 4 sections.
