What is a passive sentence?
  • The subject receives the action
  • Example: The grizzly bear was caught (by the hunters).

  • Identify the Direct Object
  • Determine verb tense
  • Add subject from active sentence (if relevant)

Verb tense
  • Past or present?
  • simple, perfect, continuous or future will
  • Add to be form
  • change verb to past participle if needed
  • Example: She carried a box up the stairs ->
  • A box was carried up the stairs (by her).
