Involving children in the planning their own learning. 
Encouraging young children to choose different ways to learn in a way which suits them best. This often increases concentration & Cortisol. 
Communicating clearly using positive language appropriate for their age range & stage of development.

Observation and assessment
One of the main ways we support education and early learning is by observing and assessing the children or young people we work with. 
 Planning appropriate activities for the age range. 
Observing children's engagement
The importance of using the milestones in Development Matters 2023 to assess progress. 

Early identification is so important, it is when practitioners use observations to recognise that a child or young person is not meeting their milestones and may need intervention.
Tailored intervention - Designing individual support to meet the child's needs in a specific area of skill.

Step 1 - On a blank piece of paper, you will take notes of what you are observing in the video. Consider focusing your observation to all 7 areas of learning. 

Step 2 - You will then use Development Matters 2023, to identify 3 or more milestones that the children int he video are working towards.

In Education our approach to supporting children can influence how well they engage in their learning. 
Everyone will work in pairs, you will have a go at being disruptive whilst using chalk to create a picture. 
Your partner will be the educator who will try and consider different strategies to approach the child or young person. 
(Page 22 - in the T level book will give you techniques to consider)

We will then swap and the other person will have a go!!
