Je hebt verschillende hulpwerkwoorden:
Can - Could - Have to - Should - Must
Wij gaan kijken naar Have to - Should en Must

Je verandert een modal verb nooit in de zin, die blijft altijd hetzelfde. Uitzondering: have to.

I have to - He/She/It has to - We/You/They have to

Modals
Modal = Hulpwerkwoord

Helpt het belangrijkste werkwoord in de zin om de boodschap over te brengen, het is een aanvulling op het hoofdwerkwoord.

You have to send that letter. = Jij moet die brief versturen.
She must go to work. = Zij moet naar haar werk gaan.

Have to & should
Have to wordt gebruikt om aan te geven dat iemand iets moet doen. Het is dan verplicht.

Should wordt gebruikt om iemand advies te geven wanneer het niet verplicht is. Je zegt dan dus dat het goed/verstandig is om iets op een bepaalde manier te doen.

Must

Must gebruik je wanneer de spreker zelf vindt dat iets gedaan moet worden, naar hun eigen mening. 

Ook gebruik je must wanneer je iemand iets sterk wilt aanraden, maar het geen verplichting is.
