Werkwoorden zoals: "to be", "can", "may" & "will" komen aan het begin van de zin.

Can, may & will => auxiliary verbs.

Are you a student? 
Can you tell me what your name is?  
May I sit here, please?
Will you come with me to the store?

Er komt een extra werkwoord (verb) bij, namelijk: Do / Does

Do / does => komt aan het begin van de zin.

Het hoofdwerkwoord (the main verb) veranderd naar het hele werkwoord (infinitive)

He reads a lot of books. --> Does he read a lot of books?

Bij het maken van een vraag met "to have", voeg je ook "Do / does" toe.

She has long hair. --> Does she have long hair?

We have to go. --> Do we have to go?

Soms is het gezegde van een zin: "have got" (hebben)

Have => gaat naar het begin van de zin.
Got => blijft op dezelfde plek.

You have got a nice car. --> Have you got a nice car?

Negations = ontkenningen.

There are 2 ways to make a sentence: negative. 
(in the present simple)

Wanneer er in een zin werkwoorden zoals: "to be", "can", "may" & "will" staan, voeg je "Not" of de afkorting (contraction) "n't" toe.

She is sick today. --> She is not sick today / She isn't sick today.
I can play football. --> I can not play football / I can't play football.
He will sleep soon. --> He will not sleep soon / He won't sleep soon.

Wanneer er in zin geen werkwoorden zoals: "to be" of auxiliary verbs staan => voeg je do not / does not toe. Of de contractions (afkortingen): don't / doesn't. Dit plaatsen we na the subject (het onderwerp).

"I like English." --> I do not like English / I don't like English.
"We know each other." --> We do not know each other / We don't know each other.
