Here’s what it stands for:
S – Strengths
What are your strengths what do you excel at?  
W – Weaknesses
Internal limitations or areas that need improvement.
Examples: poor time management, limited resources, lack of experience and skills.
O – Opportunities
External chances to grow, improve, or succeed. 
Working in a restaurant ,practicing specific skills i.e. fish filleting  



External challenges or risks that could cause problems.
Examples: competition, rising costs, changing laws, economic downturns.

T – Threats
External challenges or risks that could cause problems.
Examples: arriving late due to transport issues
Getting distracted in class.

How to Write a Personal Development Plan
There are seven steps to writing a PDP:
Set yourself goals.
Prioritise those goals.
Set yourself deadlines for when you want to achieve them.
Recognise threats and opportunities.
Develop your skills or increase your knowledge.
Use your support network.
Measure your progress.

Using a plan will help you -
Organise your development
Improve your skills and abilities – identify areas of weakness
Learn different skills – improve on existing skills
Demonstrate that you are organised, conscientious, focused and reliable

Pdp - criteria 
1.outlined why PDPs and feedback are
important.
2. Described their strengths and weaknesses,
and set and worked towards a target
successfully; explained clearly how the
review process
supports learning.
3. has taken ownership of their PDP and has
successfully developed skills over time;
shown what they have done to improve;
given clear descriptions of how PDPs are
useful.
