Odd One Out – How to Play

Odd One Out is a vocabulary and pronunciation game.You will see four or five words. Your job is to find the one word that is different from the others.

The difference can be based on:

Meaning – different category or type

Pronunciation – a different sound

Spelling – a different spelling pattern

Grammar – a different type of word

Word structure – number of letters or syllables

The most important rule is:

👉 You must explain WHY you chose the word.

Fear or phobia

Phobia: an extreme fear for something or a situation. It usually cannot be explained.

Fear: an unpleasant emotion or thought that you have when you are frightened or worried by something dangerous, painful or bad that is happening or might happen.

Tips

A good story should include the following: 

• An exciting title
• a paragraph that is interesting so that  you want to read on.
• sentences that are varied in length for interest.
• short sentences for dramatic events
• a wide range of vocabulary, including vivid adjectives and adverbs.
• a story is writen in the past tense.
• correct use of paragraphs
