How to make question tags

Positive verb ==> negative question tag

Negative verb ==> positive question tag

Grammar: tag questions

Use: looking for confirmation (Dutch "toch?")

Form:

• Sentence positive = tag question negative
• Sentence negative = tag question positive

Careful! "am I" in sentence = "aren't I" in tag question

How to use a tag question?

A tag question consists of a verb and a pronoun. 

Sometimes you also use the word 'not' in the tag question.

He isn't smart, is he? (tag = verb + pronoun)
