Active sentences
-The subject of the sentence preforms the action.
-"Normal" sentences:
I am reading a book.
She is drawing a dog.
They are listening to music. 

Slide 2 - Slide

Passive sentences
The combination of 'to be' + past participle (volt. dlw) makes a sentence passive
The student is taught (by the teacher).
The man was bitten (by the dog).
The painting is being painted (by the painter). 
The sandwich was eaten (by the man)

Slide 3 - Slide

Passive 
- check if there is a form of 'to be' used (am, are, is, was, were, been)
- is it the form of to be followed by a participle (voltooid deelwoord)?
- is it followed by 'by + noun or pronoun? If not, can it be followed by 'by zombies'?
Are all answers 'yes'? Congratulations, you have a passive sentence.

- Habits, facts
-Always, never, usually, every week, last week, last year, occasionally.
-SHIT-rule
I do the dishes every night. 
She walks the dog every sunday. 
They used to go out for drinks together every week.

Continuous tenses
- Happening right now for the present. Happened and got interupted for the past.
-Am / is / are / was / were in the sentence.
I am doing my homework at the moment. 
Mom is driving to the beach with the kids right now.
John was watching television when the phone rang.
