Wat zijn trappen van vergelijking?

De trappen van vergelijking gebruik je om 2 of meer dingen met elkaar te vergelijken.

Je gebruikt hierbij adjectives

v.b.

Mijn zus is ouder dan jouw zus.

-er / -est

Bij adjectives van één lettergreep plak je -er of -est er achter:

big - bigger than - the biggest

tall - taller than - the tallest

white - whiter than - the whitest

more / most

Bij adjectives van twee of meer lettergrepen zet je more of most ervoor

beau|ti|ful / more beautiful than / the  most beautiful

in|te|res|ting / more interesting than / the most interesting

stun|ning / more stunning than / the most stunning

as ... as

Als je wilt zeggen dat 2 dingen (bijna) hetzelfde zijn dan gebruik je as adjective as (net zo ... als)

You're as tall as my brother.

She is as old as her cousin.

Your girlfriend is almost as pretty as mine.

Adjectives van twéé lettergrepen op -y krijgen ook -er / -est

Hap|py / Happier than / The happiest

Pret|ty / Prettier than / The prettiest
