4. That kan soms in plaats van who of which gebruikt worden (niet verplicht): alleen als er géén komma voor staat, 
oftwel: als de informatie nodig is om de zin te begrijpen
  • I don’t like people who/ that can’t listen.
  • The statement which/ that he made surprised everybody.

  • The Johnsons, who (that) live opposite us, can’t listen at all.

Voorzetsel + whom --> Betekent: waamee/met wie, waarover/over wie, etc. 

  • Can you tell me something about the people (who/that) I have to work with?
  • Can you tell me something about the people with whom I have to work?

  • Lynn is the girl (who/ that) I have told you about.
  • Lynn is the girl about whom I have told you.

Adjectives
-  Bijvoegelijke naamwoorden: zeggen iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord: 

the careful driver
the angry teacher
a beautiful dress

- Bijwoorden : Zeggen iets over werkwoorden, bijvoegelijke naamwoorden, en andere  bijwoorden 

  • she drove carefully
  • it rained heavily,
  • incredibly quickly
  • surprisingly easy

Adverbs 

Adverbs maak je MEESTAL door -ly achter het bijvoeglijk naamwoord te zetten (quick --> quickly; careful-- > carefully)

Terrific --> ically --> The report has been terrifically written.
horrible--> bly --> The report has been horribly written.
easy --> ily --> He has easily won.

Uitzonderingen

- Een aantal adverbs maak je niet met -ly: 
   good > well          the good dog, you did well
   fast > fast             the fast car, he ran fast                 ('hardly' =
   hard > hard          the hard test, he tried hard          nauwelijks)
