Consists of : have/has + past participle
past participle = regular verb + ed  /  irregular verb 
                                          
Ex. I have played videogames for 20 years.
       She has lived in Amsterdam since 2008.
        The cows have given milk.

When do you use the past simple?
  • To talk about something that started and finished in the past.

  • She lived in Hong Kong from 2016 to 2020.
  • I went to the gym before work this morning.

  • An action or situation that started in the past and continues in the present

  • We have lived in London since 2000.
  •  She has worked at the University since 1994.

  • We don't know when it happened or when the time isn't important.

  •  I've already seen that film. I don't want to see it again. (It doesn't matter when I saw it.)

  • Have you ever been to Germany? (It doesn't matter when you went — I just want to know whether you have been there or not.)

  • She has broken her arm. (The arm is still injured.
