Introduction to Modals

Modals are auxiliary verbs that express ability, possibility, permission, or obligation.

Modal: Can/Can't

Express ability or possibility. E.g., 'She can swim.' Structure: Subject + can/can't + base verb.

Modal: May/Might

Express possibility. E.g., 'It might rain.' Structure: Subject + may/might + base verb.

Modal: Must/Have to

Express obligation or necessity. E.g., 'You must study.' Structure: Subject + must/have to + base verb.

Modal: Should/Ought to

Express advice or recommendation. E.g., 'You should eat healthy.' Structure: Subject + should/ought to + base verb.
