Caption it!
A caption is a brief explanation or comment which accompanies an image. You may recall that when we look at an image, we consider two things - the denotation, what it is actually showing us, and, more importantly, the connotations, which is what the picture implies, or what ideas or feelings the producer of the text wants the audience to associate the image with.

Caption it!
Sometimes a caption simply describes what the image shows. But, words are words, and sometimes journalists and editors can use the caption to encourage you to 'read' the image in a particular way.
Let's have a look at an image taken during the 2011 London riots.

Collaborative work:
In groups of four you are going to do some research online.
I want you to find a minimum of 10 photographs linked to recent (international) news. Try to find images without any text.

Take about 15 minutes to find these images and to put them in a Google Slides document. One slide for each image.

Slide 16 - Tekstslide

Homework
Finish the collaborative assignment. Share your captions and choose the best ones. Add these to your Google Slides document.
