Welcome Educators!

My name is Kim Fulton & I will be coming into your classrooms to observe ED 400 Pre-Student Teachers!

Observation Requirements

• Full 14 weeks    Co-Op performs two observations
• Half Split at 7 weeks with another Co-Op 

perform one observation each

What Should Pre-Student Teachers be doing in your classrooms? 

• Be Actively Engaged
• Encourage participation! Get involved!
• Meet them where they are & grow from there!  

(Bare minimum versus "Go Getters")

*They are not yet permitted to substitute at this time.

Try to:

• Establish professional routines
• Promote good habits/life long practices
• Start with 1 thing to teach, then build as weeks go by
• Have a back up plan 

(If calling off sick, what should student do?)

Lesson Plans:

• Need turned in 24 hours prior to teaching a lesson
• Friday turn in for a Monday lesson
• Make sure materials are available & prepped ahead of time
• Students send me a Lesson Plan as well

Professional Learning Seminar

• We meet on campus each Wednesday, 4:15-6:00PM.
• Students check in with me, turn in paperwork due
• Schedule for classroom observation times at your schools
• Please contact me with questions/concerns, I can discuss with your student. 

Your Building-when meeting with 

Pre-Student Teachers:

• Mention parking & the best way to enter the building
• Raptor System: Bring license/clearances for office staff
• Will you meet the student in the office or prefer student comes straight to your classroom? 

Talking Points: 

• Introduce yourself to the Cooperating Teacher 
• Select 1 day a week that works for you both to be in the classroom
• Share your contact information 

This is an EXCITING TIME FOR THEM!

Remember to JUMP IN & HELP, don't let them SINK!
Keep in mind-GROWTH MINDSET, start where they are & build upon as they acquire new skills

Communicate openly & help students build rapport with coworkers & building staff
