Teenage drivers aged 17-19 make up only 1.5% of the driving population. However, 9% of fatal and serious crashes involve teenage drivers.

New research shows that almost 6 in 10 road crashes involving teenage motorists were caused by the driver texting.

1 in 8 accidents were caused by a teenage driver fiddling with a smartphone.
