Contraceptives:

• Contraceptives literally means "to stop conception", which means to stop fertilisation.
•  Nowadays contraceptives can also be used to stop the spread of diseases.

Methods of contraception:

• Barrier method
• Chemical method
• Intrauterine method
• Natural method
• Sterilisation
• Emergency method

Barrier method:

• This create a physical wall between the sperm cells and egg cells, this sometimes also protects against STD's.

• Male condoms

• Diaphragms

Chemical method:

• Chemical methods of birth control use artificial hormones or chemicals to regulate or stop ovulation and prevent pregnancy

• Contraceptive sponges

Intrauterine method:

• An IUD is a small, T-shaped device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy.

• A copper IUD 
• A hormonal IUD

Natural method:

• With natural methods people choose to use no artificial methods (plastic, chemicals or implants) to control possible pregnancies, they use their brains & calendars.

• abstinence

Sterilisation:

• Sterilisation is a permanent form of birth control that either prevents a woman from getting pregnant or prevents a man from releasing sperm.

• A sterilisation implant 
• Tubal ligation (female sterilisation) 
• Vasectomy 

Emergency method:

• Emergency contraception are hormonal pills, taken either as a single dose or two doses 12 hours apart, that are intended for use in the event of unprotected intercourse.

• Morning after pill

• Who uses it (male, female, both)
• How does it work?
• How do you use it?
• What is the effectiveness of the contraceptive method (what is the chance of getting pregnant when you are using this method?
• Does it prevent people catching sexually transmitted diseases?
• Where can you get it?
• What advantages or disadvantages do you see to the method? (Give specific recommendations about how disadvantages could be made less, if possible.)
