Essay Writing
Question could be in the form of an opinion, problem or issue. 
present a solution to a problem, present and justify an opinion, compare and contrast evidence or opinions, or evaluate and challenge an argument or idea.
Length of essay : about 350 words 
Time : 50 minutes

Structure of Essay 

  1. Introduction ( Attention Grabber, Thesis statement )
  2. Body (topic sentence + an explanation + evidence) 
  3. Conclusion  (a summary of main point)

Introduction Paragraph 
 

  1. Provide a theoretical overview and general comments relevant to the question.
  2. The thesis statement has to be relevant and comprehensive.
  3. Some common strategies to grab the reader's attention:

  • Examine and discuss in closer detail the key issues raised in the essay question.
  • Include evidence as well to substantiate your points.
  • Critique the argument made, offer an alternative view (with supporting evidence) or
  • Speculate on other related issues.
  • Finally, sum up to a closing position.
