What does the word 'Torah' mean? (wat betekent het woord 'Torah'?)

Sometimes people call the Torah the 'Five Books of....'

In what language (=taal) is the Torah written (=geschreven)?

De Torah is een heilig boek met veel verhalen erin. Noem drie bekende verhalen uit de Torah.

How do Jews show respect for the Torah? (hoe laten joden respect zien voor de Torah?)

1. They dress (=kleden) it with a mantle
2. They keep it in a special place
3. They never touch it (=nooit aanraken)
4. They never show it to others (=nooit anderen laten zien)

What is a yad and what is it used for?

Where does the Torah scroll live? Where is it kept? (=Waar wordt het bewaard?)

You can see the Torah is special by how it is made. How is a Torah scroll made? (Hoe wordt een Torah rol gemaakt?)

1. It is printed with gold ink.
2. It is written by a holy person (=door een heilig persoon).
3. It is written by hand.
4. It is printed like any other book (=gedrukt net als elk ander boek)

The Torah is treated (=behandeld) with respect. Match the texts with the right pictures.

Jews try to kiss the Torah to show (=laten zien) their love for God's words.
