Adjectives and adverbs

Een bijvoeglijk naamwoord (adjective): 

zegt iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord. Het zelfstandig naamwoord is bijvoorbeeld snel of mooi.

She is wearing a beautiful dress

Bij deze werkwoorden altijd een bijvoeglijk naamwoord gebruiken: be, taste, smell, look, sound en feel

Adjectives and adverbs

Een bijwoord (adverb): 

Meer informatie over hoe iets gebeurt of bijvoorbeeld hoe oud iets is. Zegt iets over een werkwoord of bijvoeglijk naamwoord

Werkwoord: She sings beautifully

Bijvoeglijk naamwoord: This book is incredibly old

Adjectives and adverbs

Adverbs: 

Vorm: vaak bijvoeglijk naamwoord + ly (Er zijn ook onregelmatige bijwoorden)

Regelmatig: bad -> badly, slow -> slowly, real -> really

Onregelmatig: good -> well, fast -> fast, daily -> daily, friendly -> in a friendly way

- Medeklinker + y -> ily (Funny -> funnily)

- le -> ly (Gentle -> gently)

- ic -> ically (Automatic -> automatically)

- ue -> uly (True -> truly)

- ll -> lly (Full -> fully)
