We know how and when to use must, mustn't, have to, don't have to.
Now, we want to know how and when to use should, shouldn't, can, can't, ought to, had better:


You should study hard for the test.
You shouldn't throw all your books away.
You can sell your books on E-bay.
You can't skip leg day.
You ought to treat others the same way you want to be treated.
You had better stop smoking.
