What Are the Layers of the Earth?
The Earth is made up of different layers, each with unique properties and materials. These main layers are the crust, the mantle, and the core.
The Crust: Earth's Outer Layer
The crust is the thin, solid outermost layer where we live. It includes the continents and the ocean floors.
The Mantle: Layer Beneath the Crust
Beneath the crust lies the mantle. It is much thicker and made of hot, semi-solid rock that slowly moves.
The Core: Earth's Centre
The core is split into two parts: a liquid outer core and a solid inner core. It is extremely hot and mostly made of iron and nickel.
