Use: We use Past Simple to talk about states or actions that began and finished in the past.

e.g. We were at home yesterday.

PAST SIMPLE TENSE

Form:

• To form the affirmative, we use subject + was/were.

e.g. I was at the library.

We were on the train.

PAST SIMPLE TENSE

•  To form the negative, we add not after was/were.

e.g. It wasn`t ( was not) very expensive.

WAS NOT = WASN`T

WERE NOT = WEREN`T

PAST SIMPLE TENSE

• The word order changes in questions: Was/Were + subject

e.g. Was he happy?

Short answers: Yes, he was/No, he wasn`t.
