Forming the Future Simple

To form the future simple, use 'will' or 'shall' + the base form of the verb.

In informal writing and speaking, contractions are often used with 'will' and 'shall'.

Explain the basic structure of the future tense and provide examples.

Using the Future Simple

The future tense can be used to talk about facts, predictions without evidence, promises, uncertainty, spontaneous decisions.

Provide examples of each use case and encourage students to come up with their own examples.

Introduction to Future Continuous

The future continuous tense is formed using: 

'will/shall/could/may be' + verb-ing. 

It is used to describe actions or events that will be ongoing at a specific future time.

Usage of Future Continuous

We use the future continuous to talk about actions in progress at a specific time in the future, or to express predictions about future situations.

Forming Future Continuous

To form the future continuous, use 'will be' + the base form of the verb + -ing. 

For example, 'I will be studying' or 'She will be working'.

Introduction to Future Perfect

The future perfect tense is formed using 'will have' + past participle. 

Understanding the Future Perfect

The future perfect tense indicates an action that will be completed at some point in the future before another action occurs.

Examples of Future Perfect

By next year, I will have finished my degree. 

She will have completed the project by Friday.

By the weekend I .... ..... (finish) my English homework.

By the summer I .... ...... (complete) 4 vwo.

Future Perfect Continuous Tense

The future perfect continuous tense is used to describe an action that will be ongoing and completed before a specific time in the future. It is formed using 'will have been' + present participle + ing

Explain what the future perfect continuous tense is and provide examples. Encourage students to participate by asking them to come up with their own examples.

Future Perfect Continuous Tense Examples

By the time she arrives, we will have been waiting for two hours. They will have been studying for six hours by the time the exam starts.

Provide examples of the future perfect continuous tense and ask students to identify the verb tense in each sentence.

Future Perfect vs Future Perfect Continuous

The future perfect tense describes a completed action, while the future perfect continuous tense describes an ongoing action that will be completed in the future.

Explain the difference between the future perfect and future perfect continuous tenses. Provide examples and encourage students to ask questions.

Common Future Perfect and Future Perfect Continuous Verbs

Common verbs used with the future perfect tense include finish, complete, and have. Common verbs used with the future perfect continuous tense include be, study, and work.

Provide a list of common verbs used with the future perfect and future perfect continuous tenses. Encourage students to brainstorm their own verbs.
