  • Je kan ze gebruiken wanneer je de directe betekenis van een woord niet meer weet of de vertaling ervan > ''sort of...'' and ''like...''

Examples
When you don't remember the word 'cash register':                        ''A  system I can use to scan articles and were the customer can pay''
When you receive a question and you don't immediately know the answer to the question:
''You know I have never thought about that one.''

Speaking assignment - find the differences
  • In pairs
  • Explain your image to the other person (in English) without showing the picture.
  • Try not to have too many silences; use the filler and hesitation devices.

  • One person explains their picture, the other person listens.
  • Try to write down possible differences while listening.
  • The second person then explains their picture, the other person listens.
  • Try to find all differences!
