You will learn how your blood transports substances and what makes your blood flow.

Blood cells
White blood cells = cells in your blood that fight pathogens
 

Red blood cells = cells within blood that transport oxygen. Oxygen binds to haemoglobin (iron-containing substance) within the red blood cells.

The heart
The heart consists of four blood-filled areas:

  • two atria: the left and right atrium.
  • two ventricles: the left and right ventricle.

Ventricular septum = separates the heart into a left side and a right side


What is the function of the valves?

Electrocardiogram
 or ECG =

An ECG of one heartbeat. 
P = the contraction of the atria
QRS = the contractions of the ventricles 
T = the relaxation of the ventricles
