• Arrive in salon uniform - Tunic, trousers, black shoes

• Remove all outdoor clothing before entering the salon. 

• Remove jewellery - no rings, hoop earrings, facial piercings, bracelets, necklaces.   

• No food/ chewing gum or drinks  when entering the classroom- Only water in a clear bottle

When carrying out the elasticity test, what are we testing for?

Porosity Test

Cuticle

You are checking for raised cuticles along the hair shaft. Raised cuticles show signs of damage to the cuticle and as a result the hair can have uneven porosity.  

When carrying out the porosity test, what are we testing for?

Elasticity Test

Cortex

You are checking the internal structure of the hair. The test should be carried out on wet hair. The hair should stretch and return to its original shape. Hair that is damaged, will stretch and not return to its original state.

Client Feedback & Aftercare

• Today we are going to look at client feedback and aftercare section on the back of your consultation form.

• This section MUST be filled out every time you carry out a service.

• You must also complete the student evaluation and reflect on the service you have carried out.

• Sustainable working practices must be identified.

• It is good practice to get feedback from your client.

• The feedback can provide an insight into what they enjoyed about their service.

• Your client should be able to write down what products or services you have recommended to them.

• Your client must write something in this section and sign it.

• This is also part of your assessment criteria.

• Used only the amount of water necessary to thoroughly rinse the hair.

• Did not leave the shower running while preparing products or equipment.

• Checked for and reported dripping taps or leaks.

• Used an eco/low-flow shower where available.

• Switched off electrical equipment when it was no longer required.

• Unplugged tools after use where appropriate.

• Avoided leaving straighteners, dryers or other equipment switched on unnecessarily.
