Structure

Time: 3–4 minutes

1 minute: preparation time (with pencil & paper for notes)

1–2 minutes: speaking (you must try to keep talking until the examiner stops you)

Task: You’re given a cue card with a topic and 3–4 bullet points.

Key Features

Cue Card with Bullets
Always 1 main topic + 3–4 bullet prompts.
You must cover all prompts to get full marks.
Preparation Time (1 minute)
Use the pencil & paper to write quick notes (keywords, not sentences).
Plan: intro → 2–3 main ideas → conclusion/opinion.
Long Turn Speaking (1–2 minutes)
You need to keep speaking without long pauses.
Examiner will stop you after ~2 minutes.
Follow-up Question
After you finish, examiner asks 1–2 quick questions about the same topic (to transition into Part 3).

The point of this is that the examiner is now trying to push the student to their linguistic limit in order to finally determine their grade.

A candidate’s ability to speculate, give opinion, demonstrate reasoning, etc will be crucial in this part of the test.
