Adjectives 

Describing words - Usually nouns

Nouns - person, place or thing

Examples of Adjectives

Colors: red, blue, green

→ She has a red car.

Size: big, small, tall, short

→ It is a big house.

Shape: round, square, flat

→ The table is round.

Feelings: happy, sad, angry

→ He is happy today.

Other qualities: fast, slow, old, young, cold, hot

→ This soup is hot.

Comparatives and Superlatives

✅ What are they?

-We use comparatives to compare two things.

-We use superlatives to show the most or least of something (comparing three or more things).

Comparatives (for 2 things) Form:

Short adjectives: adjective + -er + than

Example: My car is faster than your car.

Long adjectives: more + adjective + than

Example: This book is more interesting than that one.

Examples:

tall → taller than

big → bigger than

happy → happier than (if the adjective ends in Y->

we change the Y to i )

beautiful → more beautiful than

Superlatives (for 3 or more things) Form:

Short adjectives: the + adjective + -est

Example: He is the fastest runner.

Long adjectives: the most + adjective

Example: This is the most beautiful dress.

Examples:

tall → the tallest

big → the biggest

happy → the happiest

beautiful → the most beautiful
